The 2nd half of Pet Day 2014

Thankfully we took the gamble not to call off pet day and it was the right decision! The wind blew away the clouds and rain and we managed to have a fantastic event.

We started with the kite judging and as you can see from the photographs below this was a huge success. Well done to everyone who took part and made their own kite.

To see more photographs of the animal judging and grand parade please go to our school website.

Super 8 Cricket

Today out at Rathkeale College in sunny, yet windy weather we sent teams to the Wairarapa Super 8 cricket competition. Originally St. Pat's had just the one team - who eventually finished third overall (pictured below).

Then shortly after the start of the first game it was revealed that one school had not turned up. So Mrs Potter, back at school, organised a second team to take part (sorry no photo).

Everyone had a great day and enjoyed the time out of school in the sun! Well done to both of our teams.

UPDATE UPDATE: Term 4 Radio Show - 'SPK Live'

Pet Day

A fun creative day was had to celebrate Pet Day last Friday. All the children enjoyed craft based morning activities and as you can see from the photos below the results were awesome. Unfortunately the weather beat us in the afternoon and we had to postpone the animal judging and parade to this Friday.

'SPK Live' Term 4 radio show

The final radio show of the year was another huge hit. As you can see from the video and photographs below our radio presenters had a great time recording the show in the 'ArrowFM' radio station.

Photographer of the future!

This evening in the MIS hall, the Masterton Primary Schools photography competition  was held. Hundreds of would be photographers attended the gala event but there could be only one winner in the 'Year 3&4 Living' category.

Congratulations go to our very own Jacquelyn for taking out this prestigious award for her amazing photograph shown below.

But wait there is more!

Jacquelyn was also awarded 'Highly Commended' out of all of the photographs taken from entries by children in Year 1 to 8.

Well done Jacquelyn!

Room 10

This afternoon I had a great afternoon with Room 10. The children were taking part in a traffic survey in which they had to record the number of cars, trucks and cycles that passed the school in a ten minute period.

Next month when they go to Wellington for their syndicate trip they will repeat the survey using one of the streets in Wellington. I imagine the results may be quite different!
